UK Sport
The UK has a long, glorious history of sport.
Football
Football is the most popular UK sport and the Premier Leauge is arguably the most popular football league in the World.
Cricket
Cricket in the UK is dominated by the English Cricket Team, which is the most successful team within the UK. There is a well established cricket infrastructure, under the guidance of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Horse Racing
There are 59 licenced racecourses in Great Britain, plus one that is planned to open in 2009 (Ffos Las), with a further two in Northern Ireland, (Down Royal and Downpatrick). A sixtieth course, Great Leighs, opened in 2008 but had its licence revoked on 16 January 2009. It may resume racing at a later date. Apart from Great Leighs and Ffos Las, all the courses date back to 1927 or earlier.
