Emergencies

In an emergency
Police, Fire or Ambulance
In the UK, the number for the emergency operator is 999. You will then be asked which service you require - Police, Fire or Ambulance.
Hoax calls
Please note that hoax calls, or those wasting the time of the emergency services operators are dealt with very severely. Only call if there is an actual emergency situation... paper cuts and bruises, or being lost are not acceptable reasons to call 999!
Nearest doctor or hospital
NHS Direct on 0845 4647 will tell you the location of your nearest doctor or hospital.
Late night opening chemists
All larger towns and cities operate a rotational system for late night opening chemists and any chemist will be able to give you more details on this.
